Advanced Interview and Interrogation – 2-day – hosted by Clermont Police Department – April 25-26: This dynamic 16-hour (two-day) course focuses on advanced interview and interrogation techniques. The course will begin with an overview of current interview and interrogation tactics; however, the focus of the class is to give the student a formatted methodology which has a proven track record of success. Class participation will be encouraged and small video clips will be utilized to enhance the conversation. Compare to $300-$400 for similar classes.  COST:  $199 per student.

DETECTIVE ACADEMY (First ever!) – 40 hours – at Hillsborough Community College -Hillsborough Community College, Public Services Technology Building, 2002 N. 17th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, May 20-24:   Why do agencies wait to train our employees on how to be a detective until after we move them there?  This 40-hour course is designed to train your officers and deputies to become a viable and well-rounded detective, prior to transfer or just after.  The course is taught by several seasoned instructors from APC, all of which are experts in their respective fields.  Graduates from the Academy will be ready to take on the huge responsibility of being a detective.  Improve your department’s reputation and increase case clearance and prosecutions!  Please register through the police academy for this course.

Advanced Report Writing – CJSTC course – 40 hours – at Pasco/ Hernando State College (Dade City, FL) – June 24-29:  this course is based on the CJSTC curriculum and is a salary incentive course in the State of Florida. However, our team of instructors will go way beyond the standard curriculum. Students will learn how to write great investigative reports and give detectives and prosecutors what they need to get convictions.Please register through the police academy for this course.

Advanced Firearm Investigations:  This two day class focuses on the advanced investigative techniques needed to take your investigative skills to the next level. Whether it’s an armed robbery or a drive-by shooting, firearm investigations are some of the most serious investigations officers and detectives will investigate, and in the State of Florida, they can also be the most rewarding since our state has very severe punishments for those who commit crimes while armed. This high speed course is geared toward front line personnel, as well as, seasoned detectives. Everyone will learn something!  Cost:  only $219 per student.

Homicide Investigation Seminar – FREE 16 hours – at Hillsborough Community College – Ybor City Campus (Tampa, FL) – July 16-17, 0830-1700hrs:  this class is sponsored by Accident Cleaners and Restoration. This will be a dynamic, interactive course for current investigators.  Case studies will be used extensively to examine how homicide investigations have changed, but in a lot of ways they have stayed the same.  Instruction will be provided by longtime criminal investigator Captain Mike Schentrup.

Supervisor Report Review – 8 hours – at Citrus Public Safety Training Center, Inverness, FL – Aug 19:  This eight-hour course is designed to provide supervisors with the skills needed to review and edit incident reports and arrest affidavits. Injury and Death Investigation – CJSTC course – 40 hours – at the Citrus County Public Safety Center (Inverness, FL) – SEPT 9-13: this course is based on the CJSTC curriculum and is a salary incentive course in the State of Florida. This class is taught by current Major Case Investigators from the State of Florida.
